Shipwright / Fiberglass Repair Technician Summary

The position is as the lead composite repairs for customers of SWMS.

**Responsibilities**:

- Accurately estimating jobs - Time and Materials
- Work with supervisor to Project Manage each job.
- Supply supervisor with material list prior to job commencing
- Communicate effectively with supervisor (s) and client (s) regarding the job at hand
- Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs
- Ability to re-core
- Detect and repair osmosis blistering
- Perform grinding and sanding to prep all areas for repair
- Design and manufacture molds as required
- Prepare boat hulls (bottoms) by scraping, sanding and / or using stripper as required
- Wash, Polish and Wax hulls / Stainless Steel
- Paint repairs using the brush and tip method
- Clean and oil woodwork
- Perform maintenance and / or servicing of tools (both hand and power) required to perform the assigned jobs
- Must be willing to undertake new training as requested by management or to up-grade current skill set.
Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behavioral Characteristics Needed
1. Strong knowledge of operations and safety techniques

2. Spray Painting, Rolling and Tipping, Laying Up Fiberglass, Faring and Sanding, Cored Material Repair, Color Matching Gelcoat, Sealant Application and Removal, Paint Effect and Graphics Layout, Schematic Reading, Parts Requisition Planning

3. Proactive; not problem‐driven

4. Proficient with various hand tools (drill, grinder, skill saw, etc.)

5. Flexibility and adaptability

6. Basic knowledge of Mechanical Workings of Boats

7. Willing to work with Apprentices
Job requirements
1. Meet Hourly/Revenue Expectations as determined on a quarterly basis and adhere to cost saving measures.

2. Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, and Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Shining Waters Marine Services policies, procedures and training

3. Consistent attendance

4. Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned

5. Must be willing to work overtime as required to ensure assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner

6. Maintain a service oriented, positive and respectful attitude towards management, staff and clients

7. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions

8. Regularly work with fumes or airborne particles requiring the use of a respirator and / or additional PPE.

9. Regularly work in small or tight spaces

10. Have knowledge of corrective measures to ensure high quality finished products
Ability to work on the water

**Salary**: $18.00-$28.00 per hour
