**Description:
- Permanent Full Time- We are looking for a **_Manager, FATCA/CRS_**
**Role Description**
- FATCA and CRS activity is spread across all business units and departments and includes account opening due diligence, communication with advisors and clients, procedure development and training, data extraction, transformation and reporting to the regulator, oversight of tasks to third parties, risk assessment, and testing.- FATCA and CRS requirements prevent tax evasion, are complex, and require coordination across Canada Life. There are Canadian legislative requirements for financial institutions to obtain information on certain customer accounts and report them to CRA. The FATCA/CRS manager will be the expert and industry lead for Canada Life and its subsidiaries, will be responsible to influence and interpret legalisation and standards, and own the corporate policies and dissemination of information to all of Canada Life. This role will ensure consistent and efficient compliance with all the Canadian legislation and global standards.**What you will do**:
- Stay abreast of legislative changes and global standards: Be responsible for the ownership and independent interpretation and understanding of the FATCA/CRS legislation and standards. Be able to communicate, follow the legislation and guidelines, and make applicable changes to: policies, systems, job aids, etc. across Canada Life. This includes developing and executing training.
- Disseminate, and maintain the Corporate Policy, ensuring clear, efficient, and consistent policies and processes. Ensure legislation and standards are met throughout Canada Life by coordinating and influencing implementation of regulatory changes across business units/subsidiaries as they continue to evolve and facilitate leveraging and adoption of consistent best practices for all areas.
- Coordinate, collaborate, and foster relationships: Be the one clear contact responsible for providing ongoing leadership and support with completion of integration into current governance and regulatory change processes. Including, responding to internal and external (clients/advisors) queries and determining applicability to new products.
- Industry participation and impact: Represent Canada Life from the FATCA/CRS perspective within the industry; through industry groups such as the CLHIA and IFIC, and regulatory bodies. Lobby the industry and regulators for fair processes and efficient/effective change. Share with and lead the Canada Life Internal Working Group.
- This role will coordinate internal and external audits and drive all the processes and the adherence to legislative requirements.
- Be a central point of coordination that will facilitate periodic reviews of roles and responsibilities for FATCA-CRS compliance and ensure adequate controls and documentation.
**What you will bring**:
- CPA designation and/or compliance experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience related to insurance products and applicable tax legislation
- In-depth understanding of insurance products and wealth products, financial institutions including insurers, and the various industry groups.
- Experience dealing with the industry groups, CRA, and other regulators
- In-depth understanding of FATCA/CRS legislation and OECD standards
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to interact with multiple teams to deliver on successful outcomes. This includes the ability to foster collaborative relationships across all departments within Canada Life
- Established track record of team work and influence along with the ability to work independently as required
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into understandable solutions to non-technical audiences
- Exceptional communication skills when dealing with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated track record of driving results, contributing to process improvements, and creating competitive advantages
**Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London or Winnipeg.**
- The base salary for this position is between **$74,500**:
- $137,900** annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
