Vice Principal

**Job description**

Wales College is a private high school conveniently located on the border of Scarborough and Markham and open to both local and international students who aim to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and attend universities in Canada and the United States. The Vice Principal reports and will be closely working with the Managing Director on regular basis. We offer flexible scheduling options for both full-time and part-time educaters.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Responsible for course development based on Ontario Curriculum Grade 9 - 12, and ensuring that every teacher meets the curriculum requirements.
- Overseeing the delivery of OSSD credit courses.
- Ensure curriculum and course outlines are up to date in preparation for inspection.
- Responsible for preparations for Ontario Ministry of Education inspections
- Assist in marketing the school and attract students to the school
- Oversee curriculum development and teacher recruiting and training at the school
- Supervise to ensure duties of Teachers are delivered as stipulated in the guidelines; oversee teacher’s absences and coverage of classes.
- Oversee all essential school documentation (student files, report cards, teacher planning, field trips forms etc.)
- Ensure the development of guidelines for student behaviour, and ensures that an acceptable level of behaviour is maintained in a manner which fosters a positive school climate and positive relationships;
- The school is open to international students and as such, some international travel may be required.
- Other duties for operating the school on a day-to-day basis as required

**Qualifications**:

- At least three (3) years teaching experience at High School level for both in-person and online class, 2 years’ experience in managerial level in a secondary school preferred.
- Knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Education policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to secondary school education (growing success, etc.).
- Experience working with high school English Language Learners, knowledge of standard tests like SAT/ACT/IELTS.
- A clear understanding of curriculum delivery, teaching methods, and class observation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills in working with students, teachers and parents.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Full-time

**Salary**: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

- Scarborough, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- teaching: 3 years (preferred)
