**Position Summary**

Reporting to the NTY Manager, the NTY Assistant ensures that the NTY operates efficiently and effectively and provides direction and guidance to volunteers as requested or needed.

The NTY Assistant works with the NTY Manager to ensure that all the day to day operation of the store are being met and that the standards and policies in the store continue to be upheld. The NTY Assistant will free up time so that the NTY manager has time to do office administrative tasks.

**1. Specific Duties and Responsibilities**

**a. Support**
- Working under the direction of the NTY Manager, the NTY Assistant helps to ensure position responsibilities of volunteers are carried out.
- Assist with store duties as directed by the NTY Manager
- To assist in teaching NTY volunteers new job tasks
- Ensure volunteer confidentiality at all times.
- Promote team building and open communication at all times.
- Act as a role model to all volunteers.
- Report any concerns or needs for janitorial services and maintenance needs to the NTY Manager
- Work with the NTY manager to assist with recognition of volunteers

**b. Day-to-Day**
- Ensure the merchandising of all inventory--pricing and arrangement of functional and attractive floor layouts and displays
- Set up cash register for the day according to procedures as requested
- Operate the cash register as requested
- Assist with housekeeping duties according to procedures
- Ensure the rotating of seasonal stock
- Ensuring that donation box is checked several times a day with the last check being at the time of store closing
- Provide prompt and courteous service and accurate sales transactions
- Ensuring the cashing-out at the end of the day according to procedures

**c. Teamwork**
- Attend all team meetings, sessions and general staff meetings
- Work effectively with team members in a positive and professional manner.

**d. Other Related Duties**
- Promote a positive customer perception of the NTY store and Blue Heron Support Services.
- Assist with promotional activities as needed e.g. Silent Auction, Sales etc.
- Any other duties that may be required by the NTY Manager, Program Coordinator or Executive Director, from time to time.

**2. Qualifications a. Education and Experience**
- Grade 12
- Related business experience preferred.
- Superior interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $15.88-$23.96 per hour
