The QC Supervisor is responsible for the management and oversight of the quality control team. They provide leadership, technical support and maintain best practices to ensure efficient workflows. Working in partnership with the compositing team, the QC Supervisor is responsible for quality control of both internal and outsource comp submissions to the highest quality standards.
**Responsibilities**:
- maintain a consistent and effective QC process in collaboration with the Comp Department Manager and Head of Comp
- perform quality control reviews on comp submissions from both internal artists and outsource vendors
- establish best practices for the quality control workflow to ensure efficiency and maintain the highest standards of quality
- provide support and mentorship to the QC team
- participate in artist recruitment, resume assessments, and attend interviews for the QC department as required
- support department morale and professional development
- generate accurate and articulated QC notes and annotations for artists and outsource partners
- share knowledge and help members of the team with their tasks
- responsible for the quality of work of the entire team
- quickly interpret client notes and devise effective solutions
- maintain the overall look, color balance, and quality for shots and sequences to create uniformity in all finished work
- communicate effectively with all levels of Production, VFX Supervisors, Comp Supervisors, Head of Comp and Department Manager
- responsible for genuine, timely feedback to Compositing crew members
Technical Skills
- highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- minimum 3-5 years of related compositing experience
- intermediate to advanced experience with Nuke and RV
- extensive experience with comp, paint, roto, prep, technical standards, software expertise, image formats, film and photographic principles
- knowledge of ACES and OCIO color workflows
Soft Skills
- ability to give direction and structured working practices to implement revisions quickly and effectively
- ability to prioritize and manage time for you and your team
- ability to remain calm and to work well under pressure
- experience leading, training and developing artists
- excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
