**About us**

An exciting opportunity to be part of the opening team of Vancouver Island's newest dining hotspot, situated in downtown Nanaimo. An exciting chance to work in a dark, romantic, speakeasy-style indoor lounge; in a totally new dining location for Nanaimo. Our guests will indulge in carefully curated charcuterie boards while sipping on a tantalizing glass of wine or one of our carefully designed and refreshing craft cocktails.

We are known in Nanaimo for the restaurants Top Notch Burgers and The View Oceanside Grill, which are a staple in our community. Our mission is to deliver exquisite food and beverage experiences that leave our guests amazed, and our team members are proud to be part of a fun and rewarding workplace.

They will have a passion for food, beverage and genuine hospitality. Strong cocktail knowledge, spirit knowledge, wine knowledge and great technique with an individual flair. Be dedicated and earnest in creating a unique cocktail list and curating an exquisite wine list.

**Duties**:

- Interact with guests to leave lasting, positive impressions while simultaneously creating great experiences through cocktail crafting
- Follow direction from the General Manager and Head Chef and execute recipes impeccably and with ease
- Maintain/fulfill prep and stock lists pertaining to our cocktail program
- Fulfill opening and closing duties efficiently and effectively
- Keep a clean and safe work environment by following all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
- Upsell to maximize revenue
- Serve guests responsibly
- Be able to process transactions in a timely fashion through our POS and handheld terminal system
- Accurately be able to balance a cashout and register

**Bartender Qualifications**:

- 3+ years of bartending experience
- Must be of legal drinking age
- Serving it Right certified, Food Safe an asset, WSET 1, 2 and 3 an asset
- Thorough knowledge of classic standard drink recipes, spirits, wine and beer
- Understanding of classes of alcohol, different glasses, brand names and garnishments
- Thorough knowledge of bar equipment
- Knowledge and education in mixology
- Able to work weekends and evenings
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods
- Able to communicate effectively with both FOH and BOH
- Be able to reach, bend and frequently lift up to 30 pounds

**Core Skills**:

- Have an impeccable knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails and wine
- Be passionate about progressive techniques in cocktail development
- Be passionate about learning and sharing that knowledge about wine with our guests
- Must have a positive attitude and be guest service orientated
- Work well and excel within a close team
- Be accountable and willing to learn
- Work effectively while under pressure

**Salary**: From $50,000.00 per year
