We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Logistics and Shipping Supervisor to join our Operations team and lead a team of Drivers.

Location: 1315 Hutchison Road, Wellesley, ON

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Ability to occasionally alter schedule when required, some overtime during peak season.

A Snapshot of the job:
The Logistics and Shipping Supervisor, under the direction of the Operations Manager, will primarily be responsible for overseeing outbound freight, dispatch and driver operations. This dynamic role ensures the critical demands and supply chain functions are met effectively and efficiently on a daily basis to achieve business goals. They will be responsible for the supervision of the Driver team ensuring they are following operational policies and procedures and completing their logbooks daily. The Logistics and Shipping Supervisor will also be responsible for external carrier management including carrier performance metrics, planning of outbound freight and auditing of freight bills and invoices. It would be a strong asset if you possess a DZ or AZ license and truck driving experience.
- Supervise and co-ordinate a team of Drivers, including hiring, delegation, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and termination
- Oversee the daily maintenance and tracking of outbound shipments, management of shipment exceptions and on-time delivery
- Participate in effective carrier management, ensuring accurate tracking and sign-off of vendor invoices for audits
- Generate and maintain accurate reporting for carrier/3PL score card tracking of outbound shipments
- Review routing and provide feedback and updates on a scheduled basis
- Ensure Driver logbooks are accurate and complete
- Coordinate daily shipping schedule
- Coordinate and schedule drivers
- Work with external 3PL carriers to arrange transfer shipments or deliveries outside of our own driver routes
- Work closely with the Warehouse and Customer Service teams regarding any logistics issues
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Company Health and Safety policies
- Liaise between receiving, procurement, sales, and customer service
- Occasional coverage for Drivers if DZ or AZ licensed
- Other tasks and projects as assigned

What you will bring:

- Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. A post-secondary college diploma or higher would be a strong asset
- DZ or AZ license a strong asset
- 5+ years of experience working in logistics, warehouse, or transportation operations
- Solid understanding of supply chain, inventory, distribution, business, and management principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Strong ability to work effectively within a team, and independently
- Demonstrated leadership skills to coach, manage, and provide training for direct reports
- Strong time management, organization, and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of inventory software and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
- Takes initiative to put safety first
- Familiarity with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other necessary warehouse equipment
