About the Role

At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we’ve been helping people in crisis since 1928. As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives. Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centered care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens. Trauma Counsellors provide trauma-informed counselling to children, youth and families who have experienced trauma. Counselling services include intake, assessment, treatment, referrals, and consultation and collaboration with other service providers. Our Trauma Counsellors support clients in their healing journeys from a feminist, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, intersectional lens.

**Salary**: GS12B Step 1 $34.17 per hour

**Location**: Richmond office: 250-7000 Minoru Blvd, Richmond (some remote work is possible)

What you bring:
**Education, Training, Experience**
- MSW, MA or M.Ed. (Counselling Psychology) or equivalent degree & registered as RCC or RSW
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant counselling experience working with adults, children, youth and families who have experienced trauma
- Experience providing parenting support and psycho-education to parents/caregivers on child development and the impacts of trauma on attachment

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Solid understanding of the best practices in trauma treatment including somatic approaches, expressive arts-based approaches, the neurobiological impacts of trauma, attachment work, internal family systems.
- excellent clinical counselling skills (with both adults and children), family therapy skills including play and expressive arts-based therapies
- Strong ability to work as a member of a team and identify with policies/procedures of the agency.
- Familiarity with legal system/legislation pertaining to child abuse, neglect and sexual assault.
- Awareness of community resources and systems.
- Committed to feminist, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practice
- Competence in report writing, and sufficient administrative skills to maintain the agency’s CARF accreditation standards -familiarity with JaneApp an asset.
- Ability to use initiative and function independently.
- Ability to present cases to team/supervisor and be open to feedback.
- Experience with somatic and expressive-arts based approaches to counselling an asset, EMDR also an asset
- Committed to ongoing growth and development as a trauma therapist

**Additional Requirements**
- Successful completion of criminal record check
- **Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required**
