Requisition ID: 199279 Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture. **Associate, Private Equity Sponsor Coverage Group - Commercial Banking (Toronto, ON)** **Purpose** Contributes to the overall success of the Private Equity Sponsor Coverage Group in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. The Associate may have direct contact with clients and will assist the Director and Associate Director in all aspects of their business development activities. **Accountabilities**: Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Contribute to Commercial loan portfolio growth and profitability by: - Performing analytic functions, along with other due diligence activities on deals - Assisting with the execution of transactions (deal write up, analysis activities in Moody’s Financial Analyst [MFA] and the Borrower Risk Rating model) - Completing risk assessments and developing recommendations as to the appropriate course of action - Analyzing and processing amendment requests - Researching credit and bank service requirements of existing and prospective clients - Building financial models - Conducting several types of industry research Ensure sound and timely credit analysis conforming to Bank policies and procedures by: - Ensuring credits are properly and accurately investigated, evaluated and documented by utilizing the MFA output in addition to any further investigation or trend analysis from financial statements such as inventory, receivable and payable listings and analysis of other customer / prospect information - Conducting sensitivity analysis by modelling and projecting financial statements Assist in the documentation and closing of authorized transactions by: - Supports the Associate Director in obtaining documentation required for closing transactions including conditions precedent - Assisting in the onboarding and ongoing management of day-to-day accounts, cash management, and VISA services, coordinating with the Business Service Center and Payments & Cash Management teams. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture is considered in day-today activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk. Including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. **Reports to**: Director, Private Equity Sponsor Coverage Group Measurement criteria indicating scope/breadth/magnitude; key statistics, budgets, signing authority, sales results, units supported or other information that quantifies Major Accountabilities: - Financial Performance Measures - Customer Performance Measures - People Performance Measures - Operational Performance Measures **Education/Experience/Other Information**: **Functional competencies**: - 2 - 3 years Corporate / Commercial lending experience preferred - Intermediate credit skills - must be able to write up complex deals, spread financials, assess risk and draw conclusions - Intermediate accounting and financial statement analysis - Financial modelling and proficient skills including Excel - Strong communication skills (written and oral) as the Associate may attend client meetings as required - Interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers including basic and developing sales skills **Education requirements**: - Post secondary education with a business focus - BBA / BComm or MBA - CA / CFA highly desirable **Working Conditions**: - Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel locally may be required (vehicle required) - Normal sensory attention is required. - Non-standard work hours are required.
