Job description

The Resident Attendant reports to the Health & Wellness Coordinator. Shall provide administration of medication and recreational programing to all residents where necessary. Required to assist in planning and co-ordinating activities necessary in the wellness department. Shall work closely with Health & Wellness Coordinator, Attending Physician, where necessary, culinary services and Marketing & Leasing
- **Qualifications**_
- Good physical and mental health.
- Certified in CPR and First Aid recommended.
- Unlicensed health care workers may give medications, provided they are trained and meet requirements of residence medication administration policy.
- Good communication skills.
- Be able to read, write and comfortably communicate in English.
- Able to perform physical work.
- Fun to be with, organized, sensitive, enthusiastic, patient, tactful and mature.
- Must be able to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, volunteers, residents and families.
- Experience in planning, organizing and managing events is an asset.
- **Responsibilities**_
- Assess resident's conditions by recognizing signs and symptoms and report same to Health & Wellness Coordinator
- Provide care, if applicable, in accordance with established policies.
- Responsible for safekeeping of drug and narcotic keys when responsible for medication administration
- Responsible for administration of medications and treatments as ordered by residents' physicians within his/her limitations as set by the College of Nurses if Attendant administers medication.
- Participates in staff development, safety quality assurance, environment and infection control programs.
- Deals courteously with staff, residents, resident families and visitors.
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly duties as per policy.
- Assist with serving meals and supervise when necessary.
- Participates in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.
- Completing nursing documentation if applicable as per residence policies and guidelines.
- Answer call bells and assist where necessary.
- Assist with arranging transportation for residents.
- Report all accidents or incidents involving residents, families, visitors, personnel to Health & Wellness Coordinator.
- Assisting with monthly Blood pressures and weights, as assigned.
- Provides emergency first aid / nursing care until appropriate medical care is available.
- Assisting with admission and discharge of residents when required.
- Assists in the institution of internal and external programs that enriches the lives of each resident
- Assists with the execution through the volunteers and other resources, the monthly activities schedule
- Creates an enjoyable, relaxed and entertaining environment in the home and assumes responsibility for the morale and well being of residents
- Communicate with each and every resident on a regular basis
- Aware of roles and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- All other duties as delegated by the Health & Wellness Coordinator.

This role requires being available to work week-ends, holidays, Days - Evenings - Nights

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: From $18.40 per hour
