Entry Level Pawnbroker Job at West End Exchange Pawn Shop - Edmonton, AB

Job Requirements:

- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Reliable transportation to work on time daily
- Able to work evenings and weekends
- Outgoing personality
- Highly motivated

Assets:

- Previous retail experience
- Tech savvy
- Cash handling/ POS
- Gold and diamond training

**Duties**:

- Assess and evaluate items brought in by customers for pawn or sale
- Determine the value of items based on condition, market demand, and other factors
- Negotiate loan terms and interest rates with customers
- Maintain accurate records of pawned items and customer transactions
- Display and merchandise items for sale in an organized manner
- Assist customers with inquiries, provide information about products, and offer recommendations
- Process sales transactions, handle cash, and provide change to customers
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to report and prevent stolen goods from being pawned or sold

**Skills**:

- Strong cashiering skills with the ability to handle cash transactions accurately
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with customers
- Experience in retail sales, preferably in a pawn shop or similar environment
- Basic math skills for calculating loan amounts, interest rates, and sales totals
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven ability to sell products effectively and meet sales targets
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Wage: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour based on experience

Additional Pay: Commission

Schedule: 8 hour shift, 9 hour shift

Weekend availability

**Experience**:

- Sales: 1 year (preferred)
- Customer Service: 1 year (preferred)
