**A Day in the Life**

As an Organizer, you will report to the Director of Organizing and will be responsible for mobilizing non-unionized workers to form a union with UFCW 1518. You will also work to engage disengaged union members, around specific campaigns, to build a united and engaged union. Here’s what you can expect to dig into in this exciting, hands-on role:
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead non-union workers through union organizing drives
- Assess and excite workers through individual and group meetings
- Recruit and develop organizing committees and worker leaders
- Follow up promptly on all organizing leads, while also developing new leads
- Research potential targets for organizing
- Obtain signed membership cards and maintain records of campaign progress
- Coordinate and participate in organizing meetings, demonstrations, and rallies
- Collaborate with the Communications Department to develop digital organizing campaigns
- Represent the organization at certification-related hearings
- Coordinate various issue campaigns and projects of the local and coordinate community events throughout the year
- Assist Union Negotiators through first contract negotiations
- Mobile inactive members in disengaged units as needed
- Work closely with the Union Representatives during internal organizing campaigns around contract ratifications and job actions

**Qualifications and Other Requirements**:

- Experience organizing within unions, community organizations or politics
- Some knowledge of the BC Labour Code, or willingness to develop knowledge
- Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while maintaining accountability
- Ability to act, prioritize and organize time independently
- Excellent people and interpersonal skills
- A high degree of judgment and confidentiality
- Able and flexible to travel across the province and work irregular hours
- A commitment to social, racial, gender and economic justice
- Valid class 5 driving license
- Fluency in a second language (in particular, Punjabi) is an asset
- Experience using Organizing data management platforms is an asset

**Compensation**:

Compensation Range: $63,500 to $97,500

**Salary**: $63,500.00-$97,500.00 per year

- Monday to Friday
