**Title**:Temporary Prevention and Diversion Support Worker
**Reports to**: Manager of Programs
**Location**: Abbotsford
**Contract**:Full-time contract until April 30th, 2026.
**Compensation**: $29/hour, 40 hours per week; Saturday - Wednesday 8:30am-5pm.
**JOB SUMMARY**
CEDAR Outreach is a non-profit organization, providing low-barrier, client-centered services to people at-risk of, or experiencing, homelessness in Abbotsford, BC. We are hiring for our Prevention and Diversion project that serves people who are at-risk of losing, or who have recently lost, their housing. The Prevention and Diversion Team will provide comprehensive support and financial supplements to program participants, with the goal of preventing housing loss or diverting and rapidly rehousing participants after an eviction.
**Main Responsibilities**:
As a Prevention and Diversion worker your duties and will include, but not limited to;
- Receive referrals, conduct initial assessments, develop goals and strategies with clients, conduct regular follow-ups, and discharge clients.
- Provide mobile services, with the use of a company and/or personal vehicle, to meet clients in the community. Mileage is reimbursed each pay period.
- Issue and record financial supplements and other one-time supplements.

- Record case management updates and track service delivery data on a consistent basis.
- Advocate to landlords on tenants’ behalf to create solutions for continuing tenancy.
- Refer and connect clients to external services as needed.
- Liaise with referral sources and external service providers to coordinate service delivery.
- Attend training opportunities and staff meetings as required
- Participate at community events.
- Record hours, mileage and approved expenses in time for each pay period.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager of Programs.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- Minimum two years’ experience providing case management services.
- Experience working in an outreach setting is an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of shelter, housing and local support resources.
- Strong organizational and time management skills for working with large case loads.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to de-escalate crisis.
- Team-oriented and able to take initiative in an un-supervised work environment.
- Willingness to work with people with diverse abilities and backgrounds, including homelessness, substance use, extreme trauma, and mental health barriers.
- Ability to use Microsoft 365 and case management software (CAMS).
- Experience and/or education in the field of homelessness and/or substance use is an asset.
- Ability to commute/relocate to Abbotsford, BC.
