- The Scrum Master is a Scrum Team member who has the primary responsibility to provide servant leadership and coaching to the self-organizing, self-managing Agile teams. This includes ensuring that Scrum principles are understood by the teams and the Scrum Team adheres to Scrum principles, practices and rules.- The Scrum Master works closely with team members, Product Owners, and Business Owners to understand the work required of the team and ensure the team is focused on delivering solutions in an efficient and timely manner. Works with experienced software developers, technology experts, architects, Business Owners and the Product Owner to enable rapid development and response to reported product defects.- Organizes and facilitates all aspects of the Scrum framework, including sprint planning sessions, daily scrums, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Facilitates defining acceptance criteria, acceptance tests, and approval of user stories.
- Provides coaching to the Agile teams on Agile principles, methods, and ensures consistency of Scrum practices for assigned team(s).
- Coordinates with other teams for dependencies.
- Connects the core Agile teams with shared services and management as necessary for governance and corporate process adherence.
- Identifies and helps to remove impediments to enable success of the Sprint team.
- Proactively manages risks and issues providing appropriate issues escalation to the necessary levels.
- Distributes appropriate and timely written communication with respective management and customers throughout the life of the Sprint(s), including metric based KPI reporting.
- Supports and partners with Product Owners.
- Assists Product Owner(s) with planning, change management and product backlog maintenance/refinement.
- Assists team(s) with prioritizing and managing of sprint backlog to ensure timely and accurate product delivery.
**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**:
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Business Analysis or a related discipline
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master.
- Agile Project Management Certification (PMI ACP) is an asset.
**Technical Knowledge & Skills**:
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and group presentation skills) with ability to communicate issues and solutions in a clear, concise and understandable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to conduct and facilitate meetings.
- Working knowledge of conflict management techniques with good conflict resolutions skills.
- Ability to listen, analyse, influence, negotiate and use judgment to solve complex issues in order to accomplish project goals.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player.
- Ability to work directly with technical and product teams.
- Strong relationship building, customer focused, and collaboration skills.
- Proven experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps.
- Proven experience using Microsoft Suite (MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Advanced knowledge of Scrum framework and Agile values and principles.
- Knowledge of modern Agile development techniques such as DevOps, test driven development, and test automation.
- Knowledge of Scrum techniques and artefacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, and backlog refinement).
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong work ethic to help team meet commitments.
- Experience with servant leadership and coaching team members.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment.
- Knowledge of insurance industry an asset.
