**The Opportunity**
Reporting directly to the Parks Supervisor, this role is responsible for assisting in the upkeep and beautification of public parks, recreational areas, and green spaces. You will gain hands-on experience in landscape maintenance, facility upkeep, and customer service, all while supporting the overall cleanliness and safety of park facilities. As the Parks Maintenance Student, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Oversee and carry out park maintenance operations, including cutting grass, shrub bed maintenance, and watering plants
- Assist in the maintenance and minor repairs of park facilities, such as restrooms, benches, picnic areas, and playgrounds
- Ensure cleanliness of park spaces and facilities, including litter pickup, waste management, graffiti removal, and ensuring park areas are free of hazards
- Operate basic park maintenance equipment, such as lawnmowers, leaf blowers, trimmers, and hand tools, while adhering to safety standards
- Assist with the physical setup of event spaces, transporting event materials and equipment, and ensuring proper placement of waste disposal bins
- Greet park visitors and provide information about the park while reporting safety concerns or maintenance issues
- Maintain and document maintenance activities, ensuring all tasks comply with safety guidelines
We are seeking a motivated student working towards a degree or diploma in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Recreation, or equivalent, and who will be returning to school in Fall 2025.
This position offers an hourly wage of **$20.33**based on a 40-hour work week.
