**What does your day at GIP look like?**

The Structural Steel DZ Driver is responsible for safely operating a DZ class commercial vehicle to transport and deliver structural steel materials, including beams, columns, and other fabricated components, to construction sites. The driver will also assist with unloading and securing materials at the site when required, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of materials.
- Operate a DZ Vehicle: Safely drive a truck or flatbed vehicle to transport structural steel materials to job sites.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials at job sites, using appropriate equipment like cranes, forklifts, or slings.
- Ensure materials are properly secured to prevent damage during transport. This may include tying down or using appropriate load securement tools.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it’s in safe operating condition and report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including signing for receipts, taking photos, or recording the delivery of materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe driving practices.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with site foremen, site managers, or other personnel.
- Maintain logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and any incidents, as required by company policies and regulatory agencies

**Enough about us, let’s talk about you.**
- Completion of high school. Post-secondary courses or diploma would be considered an asset.
- Must have a valid DZ class driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- 1-2 years heavy truck driving experience.
- Previous experience driving commercial vehicles or flatbeds, preferably with structural steel or construction materials.
- Ability to lift and handle heavy steel components and assist with loading/unloading when needed.
- Ability to sit and drive for long periods.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to transportation, load securement, and construction sites.
- Good communication skills to liaise with site personnel, supervisors, and other team members
- Knowledge of industry
- Responsible for daily pre and post trip inspections of trucks assigned.
