Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to and under the direction of the Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Coordinator, and as a member of multidisciplinary health care teams, the Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the provision of quality patient/client-centered speech-language therapy services.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:**
Education, Training And Experience**:
Current registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHHPBC).
Master's Degree from an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology.
Valid BC Drivers License
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Demonstrate clinical competence congruent with service area-specific needs.
- Work effectively as part of an multidisciplinary team, with other staff, and with patients/clients, caregivers/families, and other community organizations.
- Utilize sound judgment, tact and empathy.
- Demonstrate good observation and assessment skills.
- Foster and promote good public relations.

- Deal with others effectively.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently, organize workload and establish priorities.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to teach and conduct presentations.
- Physically and emotionally perform the duties of the position.
- Act as a resource person.
