Skid Builder

**PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION**:
The skid builder is accountable for building all skids and pallets for all and operating pneumatic tools according to standards provided by the Team Leader or Production Supervisor.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- **Formal Education**:_ High School diploma is preferred.
- **Knowledge/Skills**:_ The position of Skid Builder requires a basic understanding of all relevant company procedures. Basic skills required when dealing with various pneumatic nailers, staplers and saws and their operations. The Skid Builder must have a cooperative and flexible attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- **Communication Skills**:_The incumbent must possess basic oral and written communication skills in order to communicate with supervisors and co-workers etc. Reading skills are necessary to insure safety compliance when dealing with machinery and understanding labels, part numbers and job orders.
- **Length & Nature of Prior Experience**:_ At least six months of previous experience in operating pneumatic tools is required.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Build skids for various departments to schedule.

2. Sets up materials for orders that day.

3. Completes quality checks.

4. Basic operastor maintenance of tools.

5. Reads tape measure and produces records.

6. Provides general housekeeping in area of responsibility.

7. Any other related duties that may be requested form time to time by the Team Lead, Production Supervisor or Production Manager.

8. Ensure proper use of all PPE and machine guarding.

**NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION**:
The position of Skid Builder is an individual contributor responsible for work assigned by others (team-lead, management etc). It reports directly to the specific Team-Lead or Production Supervisor, but also receives directions from the Plant Supervisor or Plant Manager.

The incumbent interacts with co-workers and supervisors.

Thinking challenges and problem solving could be routine or varied. Decisions made would normally impact transactions in the short term.

The position has limited freedom to act because work usually follows standardized practices and procedures and unusual problems are referred to an immediate supervisor.
