**Position Overview**:
We are currently hiring an experienced **Railway Project Manager** to oversee and deliver rail maintenance and construction projects across Canada. The Project Manager is responsible for identifying and securing railway construction work and leading projects through to successful completion. This role manages the full project lifecycle, including tendering and work acquisition, planning, scheduling, cost control, and on-site execution. The Project Manager provides leadership to project teams and contractors, ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, and delivers projects on time and within budget while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships. The Project Manager may be required to perform hands-on, field-based work in support of project delivery, as directed by the Company and at the Company’s discretion, based on operational needs.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Identify, pursue, and secure railway maintenance and construction work, including participation in tendering, estimating, and bid preparation
- Lead and manage the full project lifecycle from award through close-out, including planning, scheduling, execution, and final reporting
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, cost tracking, and resource plans
- Provide leadership and direction to foremen, supervisors, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Coordinate field operations, equipment, materials, and manpower to ensure efficient project execution
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Oversee and support rail construction activities including track maintenance, tie replacement, bridge work, and general rail construction
- Monitor project progress, productivity, costs, and quality, and implement corrective actions as required
- Lead safety planning, ensure field leadership conducts toolbox talks and hazard assessments, and promote a strong safety culture
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and internal management
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including schedules, budgets, progress reports, change orders, and billing
- Support and participate in field operations and hands-on work when required by operational needs and at the Company’s discretion
- Travel and stay out of town for extended periods as required (accommodations provided)
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Senior Foreman in railway construction, heavy civil, or industrial construction
- Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, and cost controls
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Solid understanding of railway construction practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with tendering, estimating, and work acquisition is considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments, including remote and outdoor locations
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (required)
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Willingness to travel and stay on-site as required to support project delivery
