Society of Saint Vincent de Paul provides community care in many aspects to the community and operates two Non-profit Thrift Stores, one on York Street and the other one Elias Street - both on bus routes. We need a permanent full-time **Pickup & Delivery Assistant** **Truck Driver with 3yrs Heavy Weight Driving Experience 5640 kg or 12,435 lb. **This is a 16 ft straight truck.

The Pickup & Delivery Assistant Truck Driver is responsible for to assist the Driver with the pick-up and delivery of furniture. When not driving or assisting in the pick-up and delivery of furniture, the Assistant Driver will assist in either store location as Receiver or Warehouse Worker, but the primary responsibilities will be pickups and deliveries of furniture from our donors and to customers in the community.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Safely operate heavy weight truck, 16 ft box straight truck
- Assisting with pickup and deliveries of customers' donations
- Ability to work under pressure following flexible schedules and meet deadlines
- Overcoming customers objectives and concerns
- Report issues or concerns to dispatch
- Maintaining and cleaning the interior/exterior of company vehicles and compound
- Daily maintenance of property and ensure no safety violations exist
- Fill role of Lead Truck Driver when required
- Following merchandising standards on sales floor and warehouse
- Greeting and assisting customers with outstanding customer service skills
- Perform other duties as assigned or as required by the store management team
- Any fines, moving parking violations, chargeable offences and their associated expenses are the responsibility of the driver

**Key skills and experience**:

- 3 year of commercial heavy weight driving experience - Driving straight truck - 16 ft
- A clean Driver’s Abstract
- G Class Driver's Licence
- Daily truck inspections
- Able to comfortably lift 50+ lbs. (no appliances)
- Demonstrated ability to follow to policies and procedures set by management
- Knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Complete a Criminal Background Check
- Ability to speak and read English

**Requirements**:

- A clean Driver’s Abstract
- G Class Driver's Licence with 3 years heavy weight experience with 16 straight truck
- Complete a Criminal Background Check

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $16.30-$26.98 per hour
