**SUMMARY**

Reporting to the Assistant Facility Manager, the Facilities Worker is responsible for repairing equipment safely and efficiently in the assigned facility.

The Facilities Worker focuses on the seamless operations of the facility to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patrons and staff. He or she will assist in the constructive direction of the facility worker crew, ensure that the facility and grounds are maintained appropriately, and that the building is always operating in a safe and secure fashion. Further, the Facilities Worker will maintain regular communication with the Assistant Facility Manager and other various department managers to gain information on current projects and forthcoming projects.

A key part of this role is to inspect and implement all facility maintenance services and repairs that pertain to the building and surrounding grounds. The Facilities Worker is tasked with maintaining the HVAC system, boiler and auxiliary heating equipment, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems and equipment, while helping to coordinate and carry out the day-to-day operations to the maintenance department. He or she will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all facility equipment according to safety, predicative, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance and labor duties in a commercial or industrial environment. Proven ability in performing tasks within specific deadlines and under pressure where problem solving, troubleshooting, organizing and prioritizing work is required.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

Completion of a high school diploma and a minimum of 1 year of previous experience in maintenance or building operations.

Demonstrated experience in painting, drywall, and carpentry is required.

Previous maintenance and/ or labor position experiences and proficiency in preventative maintenance, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and commercial mechanical repairs are considered an asset. Competency in the use of Microsoft Office, computer training, and familiarization with computerized maintenance programs will be considered an asset.

**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**

A valid Alberta Driver’s License is preferred

A valid and equivalent trades, maintenance, or building operations certification and training will be considered an asset.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**

Demonstrate effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills using English.

**REASONING ABILITY**

Makes recommendations beyond the scope of essential duties, which may positively or negatively impact the operations of other departments. Demonstrates the ability to work with little supervision to complete a diverse variety of tasks under pressure within prescribed deadlines.

**OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

Demonstrated knowledge of various laws and regulations related to safety, building and fire code, safe work practices, worker compensation and the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

Essential duties may involve performing physical exertion: frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching, kneeling, squatting, pushing and standing for entire work shift.

Essential duties may involve working in a small, confined area, with floors which may become slippery in the work process. Essential duties require lifting up to 50 pounds to stack, store or move casino and/or general office supplies and equipment. Essential duties also involve sitting while completing paperwork or using a computer, and a flexible work week with additional hours routinely required.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

**ON CALL**

This is an on-call position and the incumbent will be required to respond to afterhours calls for emergencies on a rotational basis. The incumbent will be required to carry a phone as part of the on-call requirements. All calls are to be responded to within a one-hour time frame.

**MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED**

Various cleaning and maintenance equipment used on regular basis, including snow removal equipment, landscaping equipment, power and air tools. Various general office equipment, including computers, cell phones, photocopiers, and telephones.
