The role of the Supervisor, Island Operations, encompasses comprehensive management and support responsibilities both for company drivers and operational activities on Vancouver Island. This pivotal position oversees the performance of company drivers while ensuring that the operational aspects of the location are managed efficiently. The Supervisor, Island Operations, is responsible for maintaining service levels as stipulated in agreements with a strong emphasis on integrating driver management with broader operational responsibilities. In addition to regular driver communications, information dissemination, and resolution of issues or concerns, this role extends to overseeing location operations management. This includes but is not limited to, managing logistics, coordinating with fleet, dispatch, and operations teams for seamless day-to-day operations, and ensuring that both personnel and resources are optimized for peak performance.

The Supervisor, Island Operations, plays a critical role in strategic planning and implementation of operational policies to enhance productivity and service quality. Working closely with various teams, this role involves direct oversight of operational efficiency, including monitoring of performance metrics, implementation of improvement strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Supervisor, Island Operations, is also tasked with fostering a positive work environment, addressing operational challenges, and leveraging opportunities for growth and improvement within the Vancouver Island operations.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships and open, timely two-way communications with drivers and internal colleagues.
- Resolves issues and provides performance feedback to staff.
- Monitors, measures, coaches, and develops drivers. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures, provides recognition, evaluates, and provides feedback on performance, addresses performance concerns and resolves problems.
- Responsible for approval of payroll, submission of payroll, and monthly or weekly reporting on overtime, etc.
- Management and approval of staff sick coverage, vacation etc.
- Performance management and reviews
- Ensures Operations of the facilities is managed and maintained to company standards.
- Managing and coordinating the daily operations of a trucking company.
- Directing and supervising truck drivers and other employees.
- Developing and implementing efficient transportation and logistics strategies.
- Overseeing the maintenance and repair of trucks and equipment.
- Negotiating contracts with customers and vendors.
- Handling customer service issues and resolving problems.
- Making decisions about route planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Analyzing data and generating reports to improve operations and profitability.
- Works with compliance and drivers to ensure all standards, policies and procedures are compliant.
- Identifies and works with cargo claims, compliance, and fleet maintenance to resolve issues between drivers and the company.
- Works in tandem with fleet maintenance on non-scheduled, emergency equipment repairs or requirements.
- Communicate with vendors on repairs and repair timelines when needed.
- Monitor, inspect, and report faulty operations on equipment or materials to appropriate departments.
- Maintain onsite inventory of common used Parts/Fluids for equipment.
- Respond to service failures and create preventative action plans.
- Lead incident response and reporting to appropriate departments.
- Responsible for maintaining after hours on call availability following company policy to respond to emergency, service failure, and fleet or compliance related issues.
