United Way helped prepare me for those four months by opening my eyes to the community that we live in, connecting me with those in need so that I could tell their stories and raise awareness. Being a Sponsored Employee changed me - both professionally and personally I highly recommend this role to anyone who wants to learn more about their community, while developing their professional skills."_ (Grace Kelly, 2016 Sponsored Employee, Western University) - "When I look back on my time as a Sponsored Employee, I am most grateful for the sense of community and belonging it facilitated. Hearing stories of triumph from United Way sponsored programs filled me with hope and ambition and working alongside some of the most earnest and compassionate people I have had the pleasure of encountering inspired me to be a more genuine and generous person. I met volunteer champions across campus who demonstrated remarkable ingenuity and dedication, and showed me that ordinary people can have an extraordinary impact. While this role enabled me to further develop project management and public speaking skills, what set this opportunity apart from others was its ability to broaden my horizons and strengthen my sense of place and purpose." _(Jasmine Ball, 2018 Sponsored Employee, Western University) - "It was an honour to be a sponsored employee for the past two years, an experience that I will never forget. I had heard of United Way in the past but had no idea the impact of the campaign. Our walking tour through United Way supported agencies was a very eye-opening experience and validated how crucial the campaign is to our community. I witnessed the valuable work that agencies do, often with very scarce resources. The United Way Elgin Middlesex is about community and there is no other organiz
