**Classification & Regular Hours**: **Please note, this opportunity is available for current, full-time Western employees only** Between August 25th and December 12th, 2025, Sponsored Employees from leading workplaces across our region will be seconded to help support and execute the annual United Way Elgin Middlesex Campaign. The program is immersive, collaborative, challenging and positive. It is a full-time dedicated position lasting 15 weeks. The Sponsored Employees experience a unique fast-track professional development opportunity to enhance skills in facilitation, training, public speaking, project management, community development and fundraising, while working together with highly qualified staff to help create lasting change in our community **Responsibilities**: Sponsored Employees work closely with United Way staff to: - be ambassadors for UWEM at workplaces and in the community - provide support to workplace campaigns by assisting with campaign planning, developing campaign materials, facilitating training and working with employee groups - promote the UWEM message and impact through social media, training sessions, presentations, workplace campaigns and individual meetings - ensure workplaces and volunteers receive appropriate recognition and stewardship for their support - assist with the planning, sponsorship and promotion for, and management of, community events - attend virtual and in-person (where applicable) events, meetings and presentations - monitor and track progress, provide feedback, collect data, and complete final reports - have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and motivate others - be a collaborative team player, with the ability to work with a diverse group including: community members (including those with lived experience), workplace ambassadors and management - possess strong organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities - demonstrate effective verbal and written communication abilities - maintain a creative and solution-focused problem solving approach and a growth mind-set - have some experience with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting software (Zoom and TEAMs) - be community-minded, interested in local issues and local solutions **Training**: Training is the cornerstone of the Sponsored Employee Program and includes: - 60 hours of intensive training, with team building and skills development from specialists in fundraising, communications, and customer service including: - insights into community issues and solutions - fundraising basics - facilitation, sales techniques, and customer service - public speaking and presentations - use of data software for data tracking, collection, and analysis - ongoing mentoring and guidance from the Development team to build skills and confidence - support from other Sponsored Employees through collaborative group work and networking opportunities **Testimonials**: - "I didn't expect to have my eyes opened as widely as I did during the four months as Sponsored Employee, nor did I ever think that the 12 other individuals I sat around the table with on day one would become best friends for life.
