**Position Summary**:
Minelec Limited is a Canadian manufacturer and distributor of communication solutions with over 45 years of experience serving commercial, industrial, and transportation sectors. Currently, we are in the process of building out a new division focused on structured cabling and fiber installation services and looking to expand our team.

The Lead Technician for structured cabling at Minelec Limited will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, including copper, fiber optics, and related infrastructure cabling. This position requires a hands-on professional with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The role involves working on a variety of projects, in the Industrial and commercial sectors. Which includes transportation, warehouse, and office facility installations of networked cabled systems (e.g., Communications, Security). The individual will ensure that all projects are executed with high quality, adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Installation & Termination**: Install and terminate network cabling systems, including copper, and fiber optics. This includes pre-wiring, cable termination, labeling, and testing per specifications and drawings.
- **System Troubleshooting**: Use testing devices and troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve complex networking issues. Perform necessary corrections after installation to ensure systems are functioning properly.
- **Blueprint Interpretation**: Read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical drawings to determine the location of wiring and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes.
- **Customer Relations**: Maintain strong customer relations by providing excellent service, responding to inquiries, and addressing customer concerns. Ensure all projects are completed according to client specifications and within agreed timelines.
- **Project Documentation**: Complete detailed and accurate project documentation, including as-builts, test results, OHS checks, packing slips, and handover reports. Ensure all work is properly documented and compliant with company standards.
- **Team Leadership**: Lead and supervise a team of technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient installation and troubleshooting. Mentor junior technicians to enhance their skills and improve productivity.
- **Training & Mentoring**: Provide ongoing training and development to team members. Share best practices in cabling installation and troubleshooting techniques to maintain high team performance.
- **Quality & Safety Compliance**: Adhere to Minelec’s Quality and Safety programs, including working at heights and fall arrest procedures when necessary. Ensure that all work complies with industry safety standards and regulations.
- **Field Supervision & Site Visits**: Conduct site visits to monitor work activities, perform inspections, and ensure that projects are on track and meeting quality standards. Travel to various project sites as needed.
- **Security & Access Control Systems**: Assist in the installation and service of access control, CCTV, and other security systems as part of structured cabling projects.
- **Estimations & Quotations**: Assist with preparing estimates and quotations for cabling and security-related projects, including estimating materials and labor costs, and preparing take-offs in collaboration with internal departments.
- **Maintenance & Service Calls**: Assist senior and lead technicians with daily service calls, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer systems. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing concerns and providing timely solutions.
- **Resource Management**: Assist in maintaining technician schedules and optimizing resources for maximum efficiency. Ensure that projects are completed on time, and resources are appropriately allocated.

**Qualifications & Skills Required**:

- **Experience**: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optics cabling. Prior experience with security systems (CCTV, access control) is an asset.
- **Certifications**: Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification, (WHMIS) Certificate. Any recognised certification for the maintenance and installation of Structured Cabling Systems, e.g. 631A Network Cabling Specialist License and/or any other recognised certification.
- **Technical Proficiency**: Strong technical knowledge of network cabling and installation standards. Proficient in using testing devices to troubleshoot and ensure proper system functionality.
