Sports Information Coordinator

Bishop’s University is seeking two Sports Information Coordinators for regular full-time positions. Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the incumbents will be responsible for the planning, organization and coordination of activities and programs that will increase the visibility and awareness of Bishop’s University Athletics & Recreation Department. These positions will have a work week of 32.5 hours and require flexible schedules, with evening and weekend work required during the fall and winter semester/sport competition months.

**Nature of Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Support with overall media relations sphere, sometimes acting as the primary point of contact;
- Responsible for generating and supervising the creation of all content, including feature stories, graphics, photo galleries, audio and video for the department website;
- Support the development and execution of the department’s communications plan including game coverage
- Oversee all of the official team social media accounts;
- Support and advise in the creation of any new official social media accounts;
- Oversee the development of marketing initiatives and help to source out potential partners for financing promotional events;
- Support the department’s sponsorship plan and maintaining strong partnerships;
- Coordinating and supervising the accurate collection of statistics and other requirements for each home varsity event, in accordance with league and national directives;
- Coordinating electronic distribution of messages to customers donors, students and alumni using various communication and social media platforms;
- Support and assist on special event management;
- Represent Bishop’s on the conference and nationals Sports Information Committees (including RSEQ CCU & CANSIDA);
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends;
- Support and develop the departmental branding plan;
- Support with marketing strategies for all parts of the department including, boutique, sports med, golf & ski, recreation & camps, sports centre, arena and other special events (Gaiter Classic, Wall of Distinction, Homecoming, etc.)
- Create and oversee a strategy for home game ticketing both season and individual game;
- Grow and coordinate the use of the Gaiter mascot;
- Develop and oversee a home event promotions team;
- Coordinate home events to ensure all aspects of game-day run smoothly and professionally;
- Work closely with teams and student-athletes on a community outreach plan;
- Provide guidance and support to student interns;
- Support in building relationship with Sports Studies and other departments on campus;
- Coordinate photographers for all events;
- Analyze and report on both website and social media strategies;
- Other tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
- Over 1 year of experience in a similar role;
- Good understanding of physical fitness and wellness, media relations, sponsorship, and marketing fundamentals;
- Autonomous, self-driven, and not afraid of tight deadlines;
- Available for a flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends;
- Some travel will be required;
- Extensive knowledge of social media specifically, but not limited to, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs;
- Knowledge of Adobe Design Suite is an asset.
- Flexibility, multitasking and problem solving skills are a must;
- Excellent oral & written communications skills in both English and French.

Classification: Class 11 $24.78 to $32.32 per hour (APBU - unionized position)
