Foster Family Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Worker to join our team, in the position of Foster Family Support Worker. In this role, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to children and youth, as well as supporting the foster family. **Duties**:

- Develop and implement engaging activities and programs for children and youth
- Provide emotional support and mentorship to children and youth
- Assist with homework and educational activities
- Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution skills
- Collaborate and communicate with the Resource Team, and Foster Family, to create a safe and nurturing environment that contributes to the young person's growth and development.
- Maintain accurate records including case notes, logs, incident reports.
- Support children and young people both in the foster home and in the community
- Assist with transportation for children, to and from activities and meetings

**Requirements**:

- Possess a degree / diploma in Child and Youth Work, or a related University Degree such as Child, Youth and Family Studies or Bachelor of Social Work
- OR possess another relatable degree or diploma, and a minimum of two year's experience in a related field working with a child/youth population.
- Thorough understanding of issues related to child and adolescent development, the impact of trauma on development, and child and youth mental health.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of community resources/services and ability to cultivate community partnerships.
- Flexible with an ability to easily adjust to change in schedule, location or responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Patience, empathy, creativity and the ability to connect with young people

**PLEASE NOTE: THE MAJORITY OF SHIFTS ARE EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS (Outside of school hours) - PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU AND UNABLE TO WORK EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS.**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 - 10 per week

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Weekends as needed

Work Location: On the road
