St. Johns School is seeking energetic and motivated individuals to plan and lead summer camps for children and youth in our programme, SJS Summer to Discover. St. John’s School is hiring for the positions of Summer Camp Leader 1 and Summer Camp Leader 2.

Under the general direction of the Summer Camps Coordinator, Summer Camp Leaders will be responsible for planning activities and supervising participants in a variety of programs for children and youth. Summer Camp Leaders will ensure the safety and well-being of participants, and will communicate and work cooperatively with participants, parents, and other programme staff.

- Sunday May 28th
- Sunday June 4th
- Saturday June 17th

Role & Responsibilities
- Participate in programme leadership training sessions
- Facilitate and lead creative, active and engaging weekly camp programmes, including a variety of activities, games, sports, and crafts, appropriate to the age and theme of the camps
- Supervise participants directly, maintaining leader-to-participant ratio at all times
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants by maintaining the program space, implementing safe practices and leading well organized activities.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other Summer Camp Leaders
- Supervise and mentor volunteers
- Perform first aid as needed
- Report on the results of planned activities, including any incidents, accidents or operational concerns.
- Perform other related duties as required

Additionally, Summer Camp Leader 1s will be responsible for planning weekly programmes and purchasing supplies as needed (costs will be reimbursed).

**Qualifications**:

- Age 19 or older
- Completion of Grade 12
- Legally allowed to work in Canada with children
- Experience working with children and youth in a childcare, recreational or instructional setting
- A general working knowledge of sports, social activities, arts, crafts and special events of particular interest to today's youth.
- Understanding of age group characteristics, traits and the ability to adapt programmes.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to establish rapport with various age groups.
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C

Hours of Work
- Vary based on programme and registration
- Monday-Fridays 7.5 to 8 hours per day between hours of 7:15 and 5:15
- Includes prep and clean up time or supervision before and after the programme hours of 9:00-3:30
- Include **paid** breaks and lunch, during which leaders must remain in the programme area to maintain leader-to-participant ratio

Summer Camp Leader 1s will be paid hourly at $24.84 and Summer Camp Leader 2s will be paid hourly at $21.74

Please outline specific experience and/or areas of interest as they might pertain to camp themes (sports, art, drama, etc.), preferred ages of children with whom to work (from age 4-11), and First Aid with CPR-C Certification documents (if available).
