The junior customs import specialist position is best suited for someone with a minimum of 1-2 years of customs brokerage employment or someone who just finished a college degree in the customs field such as the Seneca program. There will be a mix of responsibilities and an amazing opportunity to learn many different aspects of customs brokerage such as ocean/air imports, clearance of all types of goods, HS classification and rating as well as other aspects of the customs industry such as deliveries, invoicing, exports, etc. Unlike larger brokers, junior employees are not stuck solely handling LVS or other monotonous tasks. Training at LCS will be thorough and at an appropriate pace, setting you up to grow and succeed in the industry.

**Some of the main duties will be**:

- Prepare IID entries for all types of commodities via all modes of transport
- Review files for accuracy and errors
- Acquit and correct entries
- Liaise with other teams for entry follow up
- Collection of supplementary information or documentation when required from customers, drivers, CBSA, and others
- Monitor and update various databases (e.g. CUSMA, Permits, HS, etc.)
- Arrange deliveries for LCL, FCL, air, and local shipment, including payment of terminal/docs fees
- Opening or amending client accounts
- Some invoicing
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required Skills**:

- Completion of Grade XII or equivalent
- Post Secondary education in the customs field is an asset
- Thorough understanding of Canadian rules & regulations for the importation of goods
- Strong computer skills (especially Outlook, Excel, Adobe PDF)
- Strong Keyboarding skills - 100-150 numeric characters per minute preferred
- Ability to handle large volumes of work accurately
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize work & time management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to perform daily job functions in a mature and professional manner
- Effective & efficient work habits (including punctuality, responsiveness, and multi-tasking)
- Strong professional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal as well as active listening)
