Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Manager with significant experience in preparing and executing valuations for private debt and private equity investments, to join the Valuations Group within Finance, Analytics & Risks (FAR) at CPP Investments. The Valuations Group, specifically within Private Markets has overall accountability and oversight for the quarterly valuation for all illiquid and private investments at CPP Investments. The Valuations Group performs independent quarterly valuations for the following asset classes: private debt, private equity, infrastructure, sustainable energies, venture capital and thematic investing.

The Manager will be primarily accountable for the oversight of the day-to-day valuation work, working closely with investment professionals, supervise all valuation models and assumptions made, along with designing key mitigating controls to manage within reasonable limits, valuation error. The role will require close collaboration across teams that include Investment Departments, Operations, Financial Policy & Reporting among others to support ongoing deliverables as well as strategic initiatives.

**Role-Specific Accountabilities**
- Provide leadership and guidance in planning and executing the quarterly valuation processes and provide insightful valuation analysis to proactively identify material quarterly valuation movements.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate investments within the private credit portfolio consisting of corporate credits, structured products, royalties, non-performing loans and other hybrid instruments.
- Work closely with investment professionals in private credit worldwide to execute on the quarterly valuation process and onboard new deals as well as cross functionally with other departments to ensure alignment with our vision, goals and values.
- Stratify and analyze large data sets to identify historical performance trends, detect correlations, identify key value drivers and perform calibration.
- Prepare detailed valuation reports and valuation highlights for inclusion in Valuation Committee, Audit Committee and other board level reporting.
- Train, mentor, review and validate financial models prepared by junior staffs.
- Monitor global market events (such as IBOR transition and quickly strategy assessment of valuation impacts).
- Network with valuation practitioners at various private investment managers and global sovereign wealth funds to share and collaborate ideas and expertise.

Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or other related discipline.
- Master’s degree in quantitative finance or other related discipline is an asset.
- Professional designations such as CFA, FRM, CPA, are considered an asset.
- Minimum 7 to 10+ years of relevant valuation work experience in professional valuation services firms, asset managers, pension funds, and/or banks.
- Solid understanding of how the private credit world works.
- Excellent research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of professionalism and ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships across the organization.
- Team player with ability to deliver in a high-performance culture operating under time-sensitive deadlines.
