**Position Summary**:
**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Co-leads with the CMO and COO to deliver First Nations centered services and care, shifting from the culture of a sickness system to a wellness system by providing leadership and an advocacy role in primary and public health including health protection, health promotion, preventative interventions and health assessment and surveillance.
- Provides physician leadership and strategic advice related population and public health strategies and services for BC First Nations on a provincial, regional, and local scale, as needed, to serve the needs of the OCMO.
- Builds and maintains strong partnerships and networks to ensure sustained collaboration and focus on First Nations health and wellness with an emphasis on population and public health. Works in collaboration with a diverse and wide array of health system partners regionally, nationally and internationally, and acts in an advocacy role for First Nations in BC.
- Provides expert advice on public health, population health, environmental public health, communicable disease, and crisis response for the BC First Nations population.
- Ensures organizational readiness to identify and mitigate critical risks and also to leverage emerging opportunities, alerting the FNHA Executives and recommending strategic action along with possible results.
- Effectively manages operations, including human resources and finance functions within the CMO office in compliance with the approved policies and directives.
- Provides on-call services on a rotating basis with other medical officers. Provides clinical expertise to emergency planning and response.
- Participates fully in systemic health services planning processes and maintains communications with other health care providers, government and professional health organizations to ensure reasonable access to provincial programs and services to achieve improved health and wellness outcomes for BC First Nations.
- Supports the strengthening of the practice of cultural safety and humility among physicians and other health and wellness service providers delivering care to First Nations individuals and communities.
- Provides expert medical and health and wellness advice to:

- Interpret health and wellness data.
- Identify recommendations based on current data and clinical evidence.
- Develop and support health surveillance information and strategy development, analysis, and

communication.
- Improve the access to high quality health and wellness information and data for client and health

care improvement, planning, evaluation, and analysis.
- Works in support of the CEO, CMO, and in collaboration with COO and Regional Directors, representing the FNHA on external committees and organizations, at media events and to community groups on public health issues or emergencies affecting the health of BC First Nations people.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- A Medical Degree recognized in Canada.
- Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Population and Public Health, or a master's degree in Public Health.

**Occupational Certification**
- Eligible for a license to practice medicine in BC, in good standing with the relative regulatory body.

**Experience**
- Significant, recent and relevant medical practice experience (usually acquired over a period of three years or more)
- Significant, recent and relevant medical practice in an Aboriginal or Indigenous setting is an asset (usually acquired over a period of three years or more)
