**SCOPE**
The Shop Technician is responsible for providing competent and effective support to the rebuild shop. The ability to perform work safely, meet the needs of operations, execute and comply with all safety procedures. They must be able to run tests, isolate problems, replace faulty components and perform other tasks as necessary.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

- Demonstrate root-cause problem solving to identify and perform equipment repair
- Able to perform inspection and reports on out components
- Follow written work instructions, repair manuals, engineering drawings
- Receive, document, and assess various types of rock drills & rock brakers inspecting them and their parts for proper installation and function.
- Repair/replace various parts as required.
- Inspect, calibrate, and record measurements of components to ensure tolerances are within an acceptable range.
- Keep records and documents.
- Various tasks as assigned.
**EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion
- Red Seal Certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic, or Truck and Coach, or Millwright an asset
- Five (5) years’ experience as skilled Red Seal preferred
- Very strong mechanical aptitude combined with hands-on test experience working on mobile mining equipment and component diagnostics
- Experience as a mechanic and repair of mining equipment. Familiarity with rock drills and rock breakers preferred
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with coworkers
- Demonstrate computer literacy and working familiarity with Microsoft Office procedures
**Skills**
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to problem-solve promptly.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- On-the-job training provided.
- Specialty tools are provided.
- Standard hand tools are required.
- Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs.
- Tool Repair or Small Engine Repair certification is a plus.
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
