Reporting to the Tribal Nursing Officer, the CTR Coordinator is a position within Southeast Resource Development Council Corp.’s Southern Manitoba First Nations Commercial Tobacco Reduction Strategy (SMFNCTRS) Program

**Responsibilities**:

- The CTR Coordinator oversees all aspects of programming, including development, implementation, and evaluation of the program to ensure that all services work to reduce the high prevalence of commercial tobacco in southern Manitoba First Nations.
- Under the Southern Manitoba First Nation Commercial Tobacco Reduction Strategy (SMFNCTRS), the CTR Coordinator works to promote and raise awareness of traditional tobacco.
- Acts in a Chairperson capacity for the Tobacco Circle Committee by facilitating quarterly meetings with southern Manitoba First Nation, Tribal Council, and Regional Health Agency Members and gathering input.
- Oversees the development and implementation of Student & Community-Level commercial tobacco usage surveys at program/community/school-based events.
- Develop tracking tools to capture and maintain program statistics (e.g., community visits, number of participants etc.).
- Develop and deliver tobacco-related presentations to community members, school-aged children, and youth.
- Facilitate tobacco-related training, including cessation and electronic cigarettes, to front-line health workers and school staff.
- Attend community events (i.e. health fairs, Pow-Wows, Treaty days etc.)with program booth display and offer educational resources and information.
- Oversee ongoing professional development of CTR Staff and ensure training related to tobacco and administrative skill development are taken on an as-needed and/or annual basis.
- Oversee coordination and evaluation of educational events(e.g. Annual Conference and Annual Youth Gathering).
- Oversee research, development, and design of educational materials and presentations using current research and statistical data.
- Liaise with local, community-based, and regional programs, agencies, and organizations to strengthen communications, programming and to build new partnerships. This includes but is not limited to Health Centers, Nursing Stations, Schools, Band Administration, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Regional Health Authorities, and Manitoba Lung Association etc.
- Oversee the program’s communications strategy, which includes dissemination of program and tobacco-related news and education through the program’s website and social media platform via Facebook.
- Develop and maintain the annual work plan and program budget and review on a quarterly basis.
- Complete monthly and/or annual financial activity reports as required for internal use or funding partners.
- Oversee supervision of CTR Workers, conduct annual performance evaluations and provide coaching and guidance when needed.
- Keep current on new initiatives, research in the related area of tobacco, and ensure all ages, community members, staff, etc., are aware.
- Working collaboratively with SERDC Health Services staff to ensure excellence in programming and delivery
- Participate in internal/external meetings as required and other networking and professional development opportunities as identified by immediate supervisor.
- During an emergency epidemic/pandemic situation, job duties will be reviewed and reassigned accordingly.
- All other related duties are assigned by your supervisor and the leadership of SERDC.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in a related field or a minimum of 2 years experience working in the field of community health and/or social service OR successful completion of a recognized event-planning program (e.g. Red River College Event Planning, Manitoba Tourism Education Council, etc.).
- Two(2) years of event planning and office experience.
- Two or more years of experience in facilitating and presenting to large groups.
- Understanding and respectful of the diverse cultural and/or religious beliefs of each First Nation community.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all working environments, including social media, and always maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent communication (verbal/written)and conflict resolution skills.
- Valid current CPR/FirstAid Certification.
- Demonstrated capability to work effectively with the Indigenous community.
- Self-directed, motivated, and flexible, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Cultural sensitivity and knowledge of Indigenous/SERDC communities/cultures and traditions.
- Ability to travel by all forms of transportation, to remote and northern First Nation communities in MB and out-of-province travel.
