Reporting to Program Manager, the Housing Caseworker, collaborates with other team members at the Terrace Heights Housing Complex. Terrace Heights will operate through the philosophies of Housing First and Harm Reduction. Support workers will be recovery focused, providing supports that lead residents to healthy and connected lives. They will work in collaboration with the resident, internal and external stakeholders in completing care plans that are person-centered, provide choice, and are flexible and adaptive to meet residents by using strength-based approaches.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Coordinate with in house team providing comprehensive case management for 9 to 11 residents.
- Coordinate with AHS team to ensure medical needs are being met.
- Support clients in their transition from experiencing homelessness to being housed.
- Enhance connection to, and knowledge of, community resources, services, and support residents to increase their physical, spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and financial wellness.
- Maintain details case notes, regular assessment, documentation, and files to track outcomes as per program expectations.
- Assist clients in accessing household goods and furniture as needed.
- Coordinate referrals to other support services such as: home care, mental health professionals, addiction treatment, doctors, children & family services, and others, as necessary.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including follow-up services until crisis has stabilized.
- Partnership responsibilities, including but not limited to intake, partnership meetings, case conference, training, and committees.
- Take residents to appointments and advocate on their behalf if necessary.
- Help with coverage at the front desk when needed.
- BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
**Education, Experience & Skills**:
- Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field (Human Services, Social Work) and/or relevant work experience
- Understanding of harm-reduction, client-focused, and strength-based practices
- Good working knowledge of data entry systems, computer programs, and case note writing
- Mental Resiliency and an aptitude for problem solving will be beneficial when working in an environment with challenges and risks
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of poverty related issues, trends, and services particularly, but not limited to the urban aboriginal population is essential
- Posses an ability to communicate with clients in a respectful and empathetic manner
- Competency in tenant and landlord legislation
- Financial and digital literacy is an asset
**Qualifications**
- Valid Class 5 Non GDL license and access to a reliable vehicle with $2,000,000 liability insurance
- Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
- Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
- Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field of study (i.e Social Work) and/or relevant work experience
