**The Opportunity**
We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Production Manager with proven track record to lead all efforts relating to Production Management:
The Production Manager is accountable for the operation of all production activities and performance through planning, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of the Production floor and its employees meeting production quality, health and safety and food safety standards. Additionally, the incumbent is accountable to direct, and develop production staff.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Working with Sales to manage customer delivery targets
- Coordinating with R&D on keeping current and accurate production specs sheets for upcoming production
- Collaboration with production planner and manage production daily
- Work with Human Resources and Health & Safety to ensure legislative, company policies and practices are adhered to.
- Forecast and plan head count needs for different shifts within standard labour costs
- Forecast and plan material requirements and lead times within standard material costs
- Help establish safety stock levels
- Plan and schedule for equipment maintenance, building repairs and improvements
- Ensure appropriate employee management, including staffing, scheduling, employee development and performance management
- Active participation in recruiting, training, coaching and development of the supervisors, lead hands and production associates and operators and acknowledge their performance with related reviews
- Establish and analyze plant performance metrics through reports including direct labour efficiency, productivity, absenteeism, inventory and backlog, including attainment and adherence reports
- Schedule, coordinate, supervise and monitor the activities of the production supervisors and lead hands
- Report, investigate incidents and near misses
- Work closely with the Project Management Teams, Maintenance Department, and floor supervisors, looking for improvement and innovation from the Production floor
- Investigate missed schedules and Corrective Action Reports (CARs). Take action on CARs as required
- Improve throughput and other in-house processes with the objective of reducing overall costs and enhancing customer satisfaction
- Identify and reduce areas of waste, monitor and review scrap reports
- Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant local, national, and international standards and legislation
- Enforce safety and sanitary requirements and regulations ensuring that the Plant complies with Ontario’s _Occupational Health and Safety Act_ (OHSA), its regulations and Mariposa Dairy policies and procedures
- Promote positive employee relations including high levels of teamwork and employee involvement
- College diploma or university degree in engineering, food science, biochemistry or equivalent
- 10 - 12 years of direct work experience with 5-7 years in production management including managing supervisors and other staff
- Direct knowledge of Food Industry manufacturing methodologies
- Hands-on experience working with SOPs, guidelines, and associated standards
- Strong inventory and production management skills
- Good communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and cross-functional departments
- Good working knowledge of QS-9000, ISO 9000, and ISO 22000 systems
- Highly motivated and self-directed capable of working under pressure able to work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures
- Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Additional Assets:
- Experience in Food and Beverage industry
- Knowledge and familiarity with MS Dynamics NAV
- Project Management experience
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean or any other modern quality management experience
