**The Agency**

The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a charity that reduces crime and makes Calgary communities safer by helping youth and adults make positive changes and move away from criminal behaviour. We do this by addressing the root causes of crime through housing, education, employment programs and support so that individuals have alternatives to breaking the law. **The Program**

Berkana House is a Community Residential Facility (CRF) for women on conditional release. Berkana House fosters a holistic environment of healing, empowerment and respect. We are dedicated to supporting women in positively transitioning from the institution back to the community. Berkana House offers a mother-child program and children may reside at Berkana House. Staff are on site and available 24 hours a day.

**The Position**

Reporting to the Residential Manager, the Relief Support Worker is responsible for ensuring the well-being,

safety and security of residents and the facility. This will consist of offering ongoing support to residents through conversation, role modeling behaviours and engaging in activities to promote positive reintegration. Supervision of resident activities both in the house and the community is also an integral part of the position. Working from a trauma-informed practice is imperative to the role. As this is a residential facility, other duties will be required, including basic household chores.
