**Job Summary**
- Dalhousie University’s People and Culture team works to align the university’s Human Resources goals with its core values, ensuring they are fully embedded across the institution so all community members feel included, supported, and empowered to thrive and contribute to the university’s mission. Reporting to the Assistant Vice-President, Labour and Employee Relations, People and Culture with additional oversight from the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), the People and Culture Partner (PCP) develops and leads comprehensive HR strategies aligned with both Faculty and institutional priorities. This includes talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, labour relations, and organizational design. The PCP also provides strategic guidance on workforce planning and change management, ensuring effective staffing, conflict resolution, and engagement, while working in alignment with directives from Central People and Culture.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, grievances, legal disputes, and sick leave management. Determine appropriate internal and external resources, (e.g., Human Rights & Equity Services, Legal Counsel, Labour and Employee Relations, etc.) for effective conflict resolution.
- Partner with Faculty leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate performance management and development tools, while providing innovative HR solutions to senior leaders on complex faculty and staff matters.
- Lead and implement strategic HR initiatives within FASS, including talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, labour relations, and organizational design, in alignment with institutional priorities.
- Deliver expert HR support in leave management, job design, and process training by partnering with cross-functional teams and guiding managers and staff on job evaluations, accommodations, and effective use of HR systems.
- Lead projects supporting the faculty’s strategic and EDIA goals, provide expertise on organizational change and workforce planning, oversee HR records and reporting, collaborate with People and Culture colleagues, and represent HR on committees to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction.
**Note**
**This position will support the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and will also provide HR support to an additional faculty, to be determined.**
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Human Resources or Public Administration, plus at least seven years’ of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional projects and initiatives, with a proven track record of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders, prepare high-quality written materials, and represent senior leadership effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and contribute collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.
