**Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region**

**Role**:
As a member of Extend-A-Family Waterloo Regions management team, the Equity Strategist will guide and champion impactful organizational change, to ensure EAFWR is able to provide responsive and barrier free services and workspaces in accordance with our values. They will develop and implement new initiatives, and coordinate ongoing programs with respect to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) that support all areas of the organization as well as coordinate organizational efforts toward broader strategic priorities.

**Qualifications**
- Have a lived experience of the challenges that come with systemic racism, oppression, and inequity from an equity deserving group perspective.
- Post-secondary education related to equity, social work, social justice, project management, or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years experience in a project management or change management role, EDIB strategy, or human rights advocacy.
- Understanding of legislation governing issues of equity, antiracism, diversity, inclusion, and human rights.
- Strong research and needs analysis experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (VPN, intranet, Word, G-Suite, Adobe)
- Experience in non-profit or Developmental Services is an asset.

**Hours and Pay**:

- 37.5 hours per week. Regular schedule flexible in discussion with supervisor. Occasional pre-arranged evening or weekend work.
- Salary Band 8, $29.66 - $31.46 per hour.
- Benefits enrollment following three (3) months of employment.
- Hybrid environment, Work from Home with minimum two days per week in office.

**Responsibilities and Functions**:
Reporting to the Executive Director, with support from the wider Leadership team, the Equity Strategist will:
**Lead Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives**:

- In partnership with the Management team, provide leadership and expertise in the design, development and implement the EDIB strategies in alignment with the organizational strategic priorities.
- Develop and champion new initiatives and/or learnings, to promote a shared culture and understanding of EDIB.
- Identify and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for EDIB initiatives.
- Coordinate staff engagement related to EDIB. Including listening sessions, needs assessments, education, employee resource groups, and point of contact for external consultants.
- Support identifying service gaps and make recommendations to inform the development of our services.
- Participate in review, updating, and drafting of policies and procedures aiming to reduce or eliminate barriers to inclusion and inequitable treatment of staff or service users.
- Participate in hiring and selection processes for organizational roles as requested.
- Collect data and communicate relevant metrics for the organization to understand the impact and next steps of EDIB initiatives
- Assist the organization in developing and maintaining current demographic data of service users, staff and board
- Support employees around concerns or experiences of racism and oppression in the workplace through one-on-one meetings, support in HR consultation, and in seeking resolution as needed.
- Develop, track, and evaluate metrics related to employee belonging and EDIB, assessing effectiveness of programing toward strategic priorities.
- Collaborate, develop, and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations and other entities as appropriate.

**Guide the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan**:

- Coordinate strategic planning working groups including group membership, meetings, and staff participation.
- Support working groups in identifying annual objectives, tasks and indicators, tracking progress toward annual objectives and integration of longer term goals.
- Ensure EDIB initiatives and learning are integrated into all aspects of the strategic plan.
- Compile summary reports and present data to the leadership team, Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
- Regularly communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders on status of strategic planning goals, objectives and tasks through the identification of KPI’s and preparation and maintenance of a dashboard of progress, data, graphs, charts.

**Prepare Reports**:

- Impact of EDIB initiatives.
- Status reports related to Strategic Planning work.
- Semi-annual updates to KPI’s on EAFWR dashboard

**Other Duties**:

- Duties as assigned related to areas of responsibility, in discussion with supervisor
