Locations: Based at Y Cedar Glen Day Camp and will visit Bruce’s Mill Y Day Camp and Toronto Island Y Day Camp weekly

Work Hours: Part time hours April - June, then up to 40 hours per week Monday - Friday starting June 2 until August 29, 2025

The Day Camp Aquatics Coordinator will provide direct supervision to aquatic programs at three of the Day Camp locations across the Greater Toronto Area. The programs include swim lessons, recreational swim and waterfront activities. They will also be responsible for assisting in the set up and audits of various waterfronts leading up to summer. They will share responsibility in safe operation of these programs and spaces; ensuring the YMCA of Greater Toronto regulations, National YMCA standards, Provincial Standards. The position will take on the leadership role with aquatic staff which will include; recruitment of aquatics staff, evaluation of staff certifications, development and facilitation of trainings and conduct audits to ensure all programs are achieving compliance.

**In this role, you will**:

- Provide leadership to all aquatic areas, including swim lessons, recreational swim and waterfront activities
- Provides direct supervision for four aquatic staff across three camp locations
- Responsible for recruitment, training, evaluation and coaching of Day Camp aquatic staff
- Monitor the safety of all activities and programs and respond immediately to rectify any safety concerns
- Conducts internal audits and ensures staff team and department are in compliance in regard to qualifications, safety, emergency procedures, operational procedures, and lifeguarding
- Act as the Pool Operator as outlined in the Ontario Health Regulations 565
- Responsible for attending all staff trainings and meetings; arriving on time, and actively participating and contributing to the development of all camp staff
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are being followed and maintained and contribute to the cleaning, safety and maintenance to camp sites
- Act as a positive role model for the campers and fellow staff through embodying the YMCA values, policies and procedures, Day Camp conditions of employment/guidelines and the Ontario Camping Association standards

**You bring**:

- Post-secondary education (or currently enrolled) preferred
- Experience in a child-oriented and/or camp programs preferred
- Experience as a supervisor in an aquatic program an asset
- Ontario Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard certification
- Recognized Swim Instructor Qualification; Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor or YMCA Swim Instructor
- Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’ and AED certificate valid until the last day of contract
- Lifesaving Society Instructor / Examiner an asset
- Access to a vehicle and valid license and ability to travel to required camp locations
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with families, staff and volunteers
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
