E1 Doors Glass Metal is a continually growing glass and door company in the GTA. We specialize in designing, fabricating and installing building facades and entrances and other specialty glass and metal work.

Our company has two divisions: contracting and service. Our service component handles the day to day maintenance of doors and windows in the GTA. We repair a full range of commercial doors: Swing, Balanced, Revolving, Sliding and Folding Grill Doors. We also service the full range of automatic door operators and we are the #1 Dealer of Tormax Automatics in Canada. Automatic door operators are a rapidly growing segment of our business.

E1 covers a wide spectrum of the glass and aluminum industry. We design curtain wall, window and skylight systems on a made to order basis. We develop complete systems include aluminum and PVC profiles with silicone and EPDM gaskets. We also engineer mechanically complex and unique entrance systems and engage in some extremely challenging maintenance projects.

**Position Summary**:
As a Drafting Technician specializing in doors and hardware, you will be responsible for producing detailed technical drawings, ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards, and collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors. Your expertise will play a vital role in the successful execution of our projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings, plans, and layouts for door and hardware systems.
- Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and building codes to ensure compliance in all designs.
- You will need to know the product lines of various companies including Kawneer
- Experience in :Aluminum and plastic extrusion design, Curtain wall design, Entrance Ways,Point Fix Glazing,Stainless Steel Cladding,Rainscreen Panels,Alumicor, Commdoor,Inkan, Old Castle, CRLproducts.
- Collaborate with the design team, project managers, and clients to develop custom door and hardware solutions.
- Review and update existing drawings and specifications as required.
- Assist in project coordination, ensuring timely delivery of drawings and documentation.
- Conduct field measurements and site visits to ensure design accuracy.
- Maintain organized records of all design documentation.

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting, or related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in drafting with a focus on doors and hardware systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other industry-standard drafting software.
- Strong understanding of building codes, industry standards, and material specifications related to doors and hardware.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and construction documents.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of glazing systems or additional certifications in door hardware is an asset.

To succeed at this position you must be able to take the initiative and provide the appropriate level of technical drawing on a project by project basis. You will need to take direction well and respond with a sense of urgency to customer demands.

- Solid Works
- ASTM and ANSI standards pertaining to fenestration
- Ontario Building Code pertaining to fenestration
- Management Experience
