**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Performs all duties in accordance with legislation, the Mission, Vision and Values Statement, Organizational and Management Philosophies and administrative policies and standards of St. Joseph's Villa.
- Attends interdisciplinary team huddles for falls, and other risk related rounds, completes related documentation
- Is able to identify, prioritize and respond appropriately to frequent and sometimes conflicting demands.
- Ensures that clinical and resident records are maintained according to approved policies and standards.
- Participates in the Administrator on Call roster as a member of the Nurse Management Team.
- Responsible for the coordination of equipment to meet resident’s needs (alarms/bedrails, crash mats etc).
- Responsible for the day to day operations and quality resident care on the home area with oversight and management of nursing staff.
- Participates in orientation, supervision and evaluation of staff through performance appraisals.
- Plays an integral role in the development of policies and standards for the Department of Nursing.
- Liaises with families and residents to maintain positive relations and open communication.
- Receive and follow up with resident/family concerns, and begins initial investigation into identified concerns.
- Liaises with the interdisciplinary team for identification, coordination and efficient utilization of resources/equipment.
- Participates in all phases of Continuous Quality Improvement activities including audits and inspections as well as CMI initiatives, Quality Data monitoring and MOLTC compliance plan development and follow up.
- Develops and completes a series of Quality Audits on a regular basis.
- Communicates data analysis, trends and Quality Improvement initiatives to the Resident’s, Family, and Management Team
- Uses human relations skills and Service Plus knowledge to communicate, establish rapport, motivate, or resolve conflicts, which often cover sensitive issues.
- Deals tactfully and courteously with the residents, resident’s families, visitors and staff. Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy.
- Takes responsibility for her/his own professional development.
- Shares acquired expertise with colleagues and professional network.
- Other duties as assigned to meet resident, nursing and personal care requirements

**FORMAL EDUCATION**:

- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing is required
- Leadership and Management in Long Term Care is preferred
- Experience in organizational management and/or Long-Term Care is preferred
- Effective computer skills and knowledge related to Electronic Health Records and Clinical Informatics is preferred
- Excellent customer services and communication skills is an asset
- Sound labour relations skills and knowledge with union collectives is an asset
