**As a result of our continuing growth, Labstat has the following employment opportunity available**:
**Technician, Sample Preparation - BA**
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor BA, the Sample Preparation
** **Technician is responsible for the preparation of the solutions to be used during smoking, preparation of impingers, ice baths and other glassware and equipment where applicable.
The Sample Preparation Technician is responsible for ensuring that all applicable equipment is verified/calibrated prior to use and each team is responsible for cleaning glassware pertaining to their area. The Sample Preparation Technician is responsible for preparing samples in compliance with the published SOP’s and test methods.
**Duties and responsibilities include but not necessarily limited to**:
- Transferring samples to flasks (ie. removal of pad from pad holder, appropriate
impinger rinses, spiking of samples, transferring to flasks, cleaning of pad holder)
- End of shift clean-up, glassware cleaning
- Preparation of solutions, ice baths, glassware etc.
- Preparation of flasks (ie. appropriate rinses, and labeling)
- Transferring samples from flasks to autosampler vials (decant or filter)
- Shaking of samples on lateral or wrist-action shaker (where applicable)
- Labeling of vials
- Loading samples on instruments (where applicable)
- General maintenance and upkeep
- Sonicate, evaporate, centrifuge sample according with the test method
- The employee shall implement the Laboratory Quality Policy and perform their duties in accordance to existing project specific requirements, current Test Methods, study plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Compliance to Health & Safety policies and procedures and wear required Personal Protective equipment at all times
- Ensuring that all the equipment used in the studies is verified/calibrated and properly maintained prior use
- Keep the intradepartmental and interdepartmental critical communication flow to ensure the correct and complete downstream analyses
**Qualifications**
- Technicians must possess a Diploma/Degree in Chemistry related program.
- Minimum 2-year Chemistry related diploma program, or University program with Laboratory experience preferred.
