**A day in the life as a Collections Officer**:

- You will compile and monitor data to effectively manage the credit union’s delinquency including bank accounts, credit cards, loans and overdrafts and take appropriate action on all delinquent accounts
- You will collaborate with internal credit union employees to collect and obtain complete and accurate information to identify a member’s financial situation, assessing repayment potential and determining the appropriate course of action
- You will initiate collection activities, including but not limited to notices required and demand(s) for payment, asset recovery, foreclosure of real property, write off recommendations, and/or initiate legal action, working directly with debtors, internal lenders, as well a variety of private and public agencies in accordance with the established collection policies and procedures
- You will prepare for court proceedings and represent the credit union in any legal or mediation activities
- You will coordinate and dispose of all recaptured assets to maximize return for the credit union, submitting claims for insured lending facilities when applicable
- You will interact with external members to establish relationship and rapport to effectively manage and settle the collection process
- You will promote Westoba in the community through positive word-of-mouth, liking and sharing our social media posts and pages, as well participating in volunteer efforts for special causes and events; here at Westoba, we are community focused whether our own community or other communities where we live and do business in

**What you will bring to the table**:

- Post-secondary education is required, a diploma in Business Administration is preferred
- Five years of retail banking experience with exposure to lending is required; experience collecting on accounts and working with stakeholders including attorneys, debtors, private and public agencies is an asset
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
