**About this opportunity**

We are seeking an exceptional Spiritual Care Practitioner who is passionate about providing spiritual care and emotional support to Holland Bloorview’s diverse community of clients, families and staff.

The Spiritual Care Practitioner is a leader within our organization. They will use strengths-based approaches with a commitment to client and family-centered care. The Spiritual Care Practitioner ensures diverse spirituality and/or faith traditions are respected, ensures clients and families have access to spiritual, religious, and cultural rituals and services as appropriate or as requested. The Spiritual Care Practitioner also provides expertise, leadership and guidance for staff during/after critical safety events.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Clinical Practice**
- Assesses and provides spiritual care, emotional support, and helps to inform coping strategies for clients and families across the hospital’s three inpatient units
- Demonstrates a commitment to compassionate, relationship-centered care within an interprofessional context
- Assists in the coordination of special bereavement/team debrief functions
- Communicates effectively with clients and families and members of the interprofessional health care team
- Adheres to all clinical standards, legislative and regulatory requirements, and organizational practices related to documentation

**Interprofessional Collaboration**:

- Collaborates with interprofessional team members and community partners to provide clients and families spiritual care/emotional support using a variety of methods and materials
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and committees
- Collaborates and participates in planning, promoting, implementing and evaluating new ideas, concepts, and interventions
- Provides support and expertise to health care team and builds collaborative relationships with key community partners

**Leadership**:

- Provides strengths-based leadership and is a resource person and role model for the interprofessional team
- Guides, initiates and provides leadership to support clients, families and staff
- Participates in professional, program and hospital-wide initiatives
- Actively promotes professional role through participation in internal and external forums
- Examines current processes, identifies opportunities for change and provides recommendations for improvements

**Research and Education**:

- Uses evidence in practice, develops and uses clinical practice guidelines, pathways and protocols in service delivery
- Participates in quality improvement and research activities as required
- Functions as a content expert and resource person in their specialized field of practice, and takes advantage of informal and formal learning opportunities to educate the interprofessional team
- Educates clients, families, members of the health care team, referring facilities and other community providers
- Enhances personal and professional development through reflective practice and by attending educational opportunities and /or conferences

**Qualifications**

**Education**
- Masters Degree in Spiritual Care/ Theology / Divinity
- Specialist Certification with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) required
- Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) practicing in Spiritual Care preferred. Qualifying status will be considered.

**Experience**
- Minimum 3 years pediatric and experience working with families preferred
- Experience working with children with disabilities preferred

**Skills**
- Strong knowledge base related to spiritual care
- Familiarity with Compassionate and Humanistic Care, Play Therapy, and other modalities
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills using a strengths-based and solutions-focused approach.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated leadership skills and effectiveness
