**About us**

Harster Greenhouses Inc. is a multinational greenhouse operation that sells floral products across North America. We are currently seeking an Assembly Controller / Scheduler / Planner to create, execute and maintain a production schedule for the various customer orders shipping within Canada and to the US.

The role works closely with operational/production management, sales team, logistics and other personnel to ensure the most efficient use of time, materials, and resources.

**Position Requirements**:

- Minimum 3-5 years production control/manufacturing experience.
- Post secondary education in business or manufacturing.
- Advanced level experience in Microsoft 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Business Central (ERP).
- Continuous improvement experience: expectation to learn and implement new processes to improve flow.
- Strong organizational skills in both time management and information processing.
- Must be willing to work additional hours during peak season (February to end of May, mid-October to mid-December) and less hours during off season (July to September).
- Personal transportation (operation not serviced by public transit).
- Must be able to spend a large portion of the day on foot.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds/16 kilograms if required.

**Strongly suggested assets**:

- CPIM, PMAC/CPP type designation preferred.
- Background in developing and managing KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

**Additional assets**:

- Fluent in Spanish and/or Vietnamese.
- Experienced lift truck operator.
- Experience in a greenhouse or live goods industry.

**Position**:
The **Assembly Controller/Scheduler** will be responsible for the coordination of the scheduling of production and non-production employees. This position will also be responsible for the development of the daily production schedule, ensuring that all employees are scheduled based on current and future production needs. The position will also be responsible for the training of production employees and providing support to the Operations team with any issues or concerns.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Planning, monitoring, and maintaining daily/weekly production schedules using sales order information, equipment, inventory, and personnel availability.
- Develop and use capacity planning tools to determine if production will be constrained in future periods, load level production plan, and identify potential corrective actions such as working overtime, adding personnel, or expediting.
- Adjust the schedule and follow up on any critical or rush orders to make sure they are completed as per agreement with the customer.
- Monitoring production capacity to report accurate lead times.
- Enter data into databases and maintain, review, and audit databases and reference sheets from cross-department collaboration.
- Daily duties will include tracking sales orders, monitoring priorities and delivery dates, reviewing production and shipment schedules, and completing status reports for production progress and work in process.
- Driving on-time delivery initiatives in collaboration with logistics department.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for accurate packing and shipping of customer orders and reporting of any discrepancies.
- Improve existing operations by creating standard operating procedures in line with current processes.
- Identify, record, and track data from daily operations that can be used to gauge performance.
- Oversee staffing requirements by actively engaging with recruitment activities as needed.
- Manage a team of people including scheduling, coaching, training, performance reviews, etc.
- Collaborate with other individuals in the warehouse (leads, teams, workers, supervisors, managers) as well as other departments to ensure Assembly needs and plans work in conjunction with the needs and plans of other departments.
