Our Valves & Actuation team in Nisku has an opportunity for you to join as a Instrument Technician / Machinist. This position will be accountable for performing work to achieve key outcomes:

- Focus on and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Observe current operations to become familiar with DNOW policy, procedures, metrics and products, specifically within the Automation Group operation.
- Focus on understanding their role and job function within the Company and the Automation team and engage other employees to form strong working relationships, which will ensure ongoing success in the role of Instrument Technician.
- Become accustomed to and gain knowledge of the valve actuation product range and related control accessories.
- Ability to read and understand fluid power schematics and electrical drawings as relates to valve automation and instrumentation.
- Ability to complete the assemblies as per the spec. sheets and work orders
- Install and calibrate various instrumentation components and actuator control accessories.
- Install valve and control accessory mounting hardware.
- Perform factory-level testing (FAT) of automation and instrumentation equipment / assemblies.
- Perform hydro testing as required for the different jobs
- Be directly involved with work related risk assessments and job hazard analysis and the creation of safe work procedures for the Automation center.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure the safe work environment of themselves, fellow employees, customers, vendors and other DistributionNOW partners.
- Assist with the set up and maintenance of shop equipment.
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Advanced understanding of automation products and product performance, through training or experience.
- Preference will be given to a person with Journeyman status or Technical training from a recognized institute.
- Previous service in the instrumentation area of the energy sector will also be recognized.
- Experience with and knowledge of valve Automation
- Must possess basic computer literacy; Excel skills are advantageous and the capability to use SAP is desirable.
- Exhibit ability to develop effective negotiating skills.
- Personal organization and life management in a high-pressure environment.
- Have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and help others achieve their potential and goals of the company.
- Have the ability to analyze extensive data in order to drive decision making.
- Writing, oral and communication skills must be above average.
- Ability to complete and pass pre-employment testing (Drug, alcohol, and fitness to work).
