NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for a part-time (0.5FTE) Instructor dedicated to making a difference to join our Faculty of Skills and Foundational Learning team as we pilot a new program - Trades Pathways for Newcomers - Carpentry program for our Winter 2026 (January - April) and Spring/Summer 2026 (May-August) terms.

**HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE**:

- Deliver a three-week, non-credit, intensive course focusing on essential language, communication, math, digital, and safety skills for the skilled trades, designing engaging and interactive lessons to meet outcomes.
- Following the intensive course, support learner success on site at CLAC Career Development College (15860 114 Ave NW), where learners will be instructed by a certified Journeyperson carpenter hired by CCDC to meet the 1st period carpenter requirements over a 12-week period (mornings only).
- Working closely with the Journeyperson instructor, identify struggling learners and provide additional academic support and coaching to learners during classroom theory component of the training. _Note: The NorQuest instructor will not be responsible to teach 1st period carpentry content nor participate in shop training. This is the responsibility of CCDC._
- Create resources to help English language learners master the 1st period carpentry curriculum, creating a ready-to-use course package, to support future iterations of this pilot program.
- Attend to student and program records in accordance with College requirements
- Support learners’ career pathways by proactively referring to career coaches, advisors, CCDC support staff, and/or employment opportunities in the construction trades.
- Share your knowledge and expertise and learn from your colleagues in faculty and staff meetings, professional development workshops, College functions, and with partner agencies, including CCDC and the Government of Alberta.
- As this is a grant-funded initiative, you will support the reporting to the Government of Alberta by documenting results, successes, challenges, and lessons learned.

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- Demonstrated understanding of and respect for diverse academic and cultural backgrounds of learners and experience with inclusive teaching practices.
- A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience (including diploma or Journeyperson credentials with related experience). Bachelor of Education degree with specializations in Math, Science, CTS, or English as an Additional Language, and a valid Alberta Teacher’s certificate a strong asset.
- Demonstrated experience teaching English language learners. TESL/TEAL/TESOL training and TESL Canada certification Standard 1, 2 or 3 is a strong asset.
- Education and/or experience teaching trades/apprenticeship education, Career Technology Studies (CTS) or math and science for the skilled trades a strong asset.
- Training and/or experience in adult education, secondary education, or post-secondary education environments
- Experience creating engaging lessons and additional resources and study material to support student learning
- Experience with educational technologies and learner management systems

**SALARY**:Reflective of what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a faculty term role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement Appendix A outlines how pay is determined.

**Location**: This teaching assignment is on site at NorQuest College and CLAC Career Development College (15860 114 Ave NW Edmonton). No hyflex or remote teaching is possible. Free parking is available at CLAC Career Development College.

**Current staff**: This opportunity is open to new or existing NorQuest staff. As a non-credit course, the course timetable and schedule can be flexible to accommodate current course loads and duties, to meet both your department and on-site requirements at CCDC.
