**The Role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Programs and Events Leader with a passion for skateboarding to join our team within the Parks & Recreation Division. Reporting to the Programs Coordinator, the Programs and Events Leader is responsible for:

- Providing a creative, safe, and educational experience for participants attending the skate park(s).
- Providing instruction and supervision in a caring, nurturing and customer focused manner to attendees of the skate program and all programs events, including the youth centre and day camps as required.
- Purchasing and general maintenance of repair equipment and tools.
- Planning and hosting events, workshops, and/or competitions to foster community spirit, under the supervision and approval of the coordinator.
- Daily and weekly program planning for the skate park(s) including program development, implementation, and instruction.
- Preparing written program plans for submission to and approval by the Programs Coordinator prior to the delivery of activities.
- Communicating questions and concerns to the Programs Coordinator addressing quality of the program and equipment.
- Providing administrative assistance to the Coordinator through completion of lesson plans, attendance sheets, incident reports, supply and evaluation forms.
- Assisting in promoting the program to the community through verbal and written communication.
- Delivering programs that are responsive to both individual and group needs and interests;
- Providing leadership to volunteers who assist in program delivery, direct volunteers in daily functions.
- Attending Programs & Events Leader training and scheduled Programs meetings.
- Assisting in training other Programs staff to work in the program.

**What you Bring**:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is equivalency to completion of high school education, plus the below:

- Enthusiasm and skill for skateboarding or scootering
- Education in a related field or comparable mix of education and experience
- Previous related experience working with children and youth
- Ability to work in varying Alberta weather conditions
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, shift work and split shifts
- Intermediate first aid certification is required
