**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:

- One of BC Hydro’s key business priorities is to ensure compliance with the North American

Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Mandatory Reliability Standards (MRS). MRS have been
adopted by the BC Utilities Commission to achieve, sustain and demonstrate compliance with its
obligations to support the reliability of the bulk electric system. The approximately 120 adopted
Standards cover topics such as real-time operations, long term transmission system planning,
protection system maintenance programs and critical infrastructure protection.
- BC Hydro is strengthening its Compliance program with highly qualified, self-driven individuals

with excellent analytical, collaboration and communications skills for this important business
objective.
- As an MRS program expert, the Compliance Lead provides guidance, direction and education to

their respective business area. They also maintain expertise and knowledge of the BC Hydro, the
BCUC, NERC and WECC methodologies, policies, and practices.
- This role is responsible for executing the accountabilities and responsibilities for the assigned

MRS Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards and Requirements within the Integrated
Planning business group by building Compliance practices, managing and administering
Compliance programs, verifying and communicating compliance, and managing investigations,
mitigation plans and evidence.
- This role is part of a multidisciplinary division of Compliance Leads, Asset Managers and Project

Managers interacting a variety of internal businesses.
- In delivering a number of initiatives related to Mandatory Reliability Standards, Communication

and collaboration with various stakeholder teams in a principal aspect of the role. Those teams
include the Reliability Standards and Assurance (RSA) team, Engineering, Information
Technology, the CIP Program Office, Station Field Operations, Grid Operations, Capital
- Infrastructure Program Delivery, and Finance.
- Specific duties include:
- Support the Director of Integrated Planning (IP) MRS, Execution Delegates, Governance

Delegates and Compliance Lead to executes the accountabilities, sustain and demonstrate CIP
- compliance.- Develop, implement and maintain procedures, programs, processes, internal controls, work

instructions and reports, associated with the assigned CIP compliance standards as well as
- cybersecurity accountabilities.- Work collaboratively across the organization to ensure consistent practices and procedures are

being adhered to related CIP.- Assess the training, change management and engineering/field support requirements for

compliance standards and operational cybersecurity.- Maintain knowledge and awareness of industry practices and trends associated with assigned

standards and operational cybersecurity.- Act as technical and/or process lead for assigned standard(s).
- Assess implications of new and revised standards, providing comments and developing

estimates of cost and resource requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.- Understands the value of building workforce diversity; models inclusive habits and behaviour; is

aware of one’s own potential biases. Is curious and wants to understand others. Works effectively
- with people who think differently and have different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.- Verify and Communicate Compliance by:

- Promoting a culture of compliance, cybersecurity and encouraging continuous improvement of

our compliance programs- Participating in annual risk-based compliance assurance programs and audits
- Identifying and rectifying areas of compliance risk or potential violation
- Managing and leading compliance incidents, investigations and mitigations plans
- Communicating technical issues to diverse audiences including senior leaders and executives
- Leveraging and/or advocating for systems and tools the support more effective and efficient

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant degree with
- Eligible for registration with EGBC as a P.Eng. or a P.L.Eng. with a scope applicable to this role.
