We are looking for an experienced baker/prep cook for our growing cafe business with a positive and open outlook when it comes to the kitchen. About the position: - The hours will be 10 - 20 hours to start and we expect them to scale as we launch a new brunch menu, increase our baked good items, and bulk up for our current menu changes. - We have semi-flexible hours, but a preference for working Friday to Monday. We'll agree together on what works best. And we won't make you come in for 4am - that's just cruel - You will work with a great kitchen manager who will support you, train you and empower you to take on learning opportunities - We are looking for someone who has experience in prep, brunch cook, or baking. This role will have elements of all three and we will train you if you don't have all of these experiences. Previous/basic baking skills are a plus - You will work both independently and with others on a small team - You will have amazing front of house staff working close by - You will also interact frequently with our managers and owner - we work collaboratively. Don't be alarmed if our owner asks you what you think we should add to a new menu - You will be working out of our 750 Gladstone Avenue, Ottawa location We are looking for: - Someone with 1 year of experience. - Food handlers is required. - Someone who is organized, time efficient, can do repetitive tasks, is collaborative, is proactive and takes ownership in their work. "That's not my problem" isn't in our vocabulary. - We are a small kitchen so we require lots of teamwork when it comes to FOH and BOH. Communication is a must, and keeping your area clean, keeping up on dishes, and helping with the overall flow of the kitchen will be required. - We want someone who is interested in growing, advancing/sharing their skills, and isn't afraid of change. For example, if you have an interest in menu planning, there will be lots of opportunities for this.
