We are looking for a mature student who has experience on box trucks and is old enough to be to be insured on commercial vehicles. Preference will be given to students who are studying something that can be related to food like science, IT, culinary arts, engineering, etc. Please state what you are studying when you apply

Columbia Ice, a locally owned ice company is looking for a driver to deliver ice for us from mid may to Sept. Come to work at 730 am, deliver ice till 3 pm to 7 pm. Some weeks it will be 30 hours and other weeks it will be 60 hour. $21.00 an hour.

Job requirements:
1. Able to drive a 16 foot cab forward, bouncing reefer truck and possibly 26 foot Penske reefer should we get busy enough to rent one. Class 5, clean drivers abstract, who drives slow, safe and leaves the phone in the glove department. You will need to be insurable to drive a commercial vehicle.

2. Knows the city. Meaning you know about the 3.8 metre train bridge down by the law courts or that the high level is not all that high when it comes to trucks. I don’t want our driver to make the evening news or trending on twitter.

3. Physically able to handle the rigors of climbing up the back of a truck, moving pallets full of ice, chucking 25 lbs worth of ice at a time over and over again all day long. At times you will need to move big freezers, although I will provide help for the big ones.

4. Able to treat our clients, even when they have a bad day, with empathy and respect regardless of their race, religion, sexuality, gender, mood, etc. We don’t exist without our clients so they r the most important thing to us. Big or small, all need to be treated like gold.

5. Good hygiene and the willingness to embrace a disinfect as you go attitude.

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
